Default Niche directory - How to reduce the no. of unrelated submissions?

I have a new niche directory and link submission start comming in. Submission unrelated to my niche are not a huge problem as long as I only get some links per day, but what do I do when it picks up?

Any suggestions from other niche directory owners?

Hi,

For me I make sure people know that it is a niche directory by adding to it to the submissions page. I make in bold and red text “Only web directories are allowed to be submitted! All other sites WILL be rejected”

I have found this to work but I still do get some submissions but not many

I thought about banning a certain person but he uses different ips to submit and I do not want to ban half a country from seeing the dir. And using the email or name to ban I think will not help. One can easily use a "clean" email to circumvent.

What does your ban use?

maybe you can add this message below the red bold notice MGS suggested
"you might need 30sec to submit a site, i only need 0.0001 sec to reject one"

Well, I put my rules near the input title or input url textbox.
So users will see this clearly before submitting links.
It seems quite effective, I got less invalid submission now.

All you can do is reinforce the rules and make it as noticable as possible that it is a niche directory.

Perhaps you could name and shame any repeat offenders on the forum for others to look out for, especially if they are being sneeky and using different IP's lol
