Hey,

Well this interview is with Shabu Anower, Owner of www.osdesigner.net.

Q. Are you able to give us a short insight into your background?

Hi I am Shabu anower, an IT professional from Dhaka, Bangladesh

Q. What level of internet experience have you got?

Well, I think mid level of internet experience; Day by day I am learning to improve my skills.

Q. How do you get you inspiration to create such wonderful themes for PHP link directory script?

Though designing something is always a wonderful experience, but when I planned to launch my own directory I did not find that much attractive theme, so I planned To start designing myself later I offered some free templates also for users.

Q. If you had to give one tip to a newbie just starting out, what would it be?

One tip in a sentence: Concentrate on detail.

Q. What skills do you think are needed to create a theme?

Sound knowledge on html, CSS, Graphics editing software and above all the structure of the script.

Q. Have you got any future plan to release any more free templates?

Yes I have plan to release some more free templates in next month

Q. In your view what are the benefits (or disadvantages) of a directory design?

In my view a good design can inspire people to run quality directory.

Q. What do you think are the main key points to a successful directory?

Quality design, quality content, link building and marketing.

Q. With so many directories, what do you see for the future of the industry?

Well this industry is really prospective only for those who are really interested to do business with integrity; otherwise many directories will fall and disappear.

Q. In your view what is the biggest challenge for directory owners in this day-an-age?

Biggest challenge, in my view maintaining quality.

Q. Do you own any other sites or scripts?

Yes I do own some other sites:
Moz7.com, Paiddirectorylist.com and planning to start a Meta search engine soon.

Q. Do you have any plans to move on to creating themes for other web directory scripts?

Though I am designing now phpLD script but I have plan for designing other scripts.

I just wanted to say that I have known Shabu for several months now, and he is a good guy, and always thoughtful of others, and I would always recommend him if you need design work for your directory.

He is a great skilled guy who was very close to me till a month back then i had to leave all my friends due to education and trying to contact him again

Shabu is a great designer and he really does pay a lo of attention to detail. He's also very thoughtful of others and their requirements as i have worked with him on numerous occasions in the past.

Clean enough interview but left me wanting more, I did find the answers after by looking through the links of his site and see he/she's designed quite a few templates for phpld and one for site-sift so I guess making one or two free ones is a great way to advertise your wares.

The only thing that let the interview down was the vagueness of the answers, in particular the What skills do you think are needed to create a theme? question, you need to know smarty coding and then some to create a template for phpld along with a lot of other scripts.

Even the phpLynx script which is only about 10% smarty run needs a level of knowledge higher than shabu portrayed.

I have no doubt the guy/gal is probably a very nice person indeed and the work is definately of a high standard, but I'm not commenting on the person, you can already see a phpld fanclub forming which is not what interviews are about.

Also Shabu is well know as vegabond and using his real name with his nickname might have helped people like me who are not phpld supporters know who he is.

One thing for certain, I may not be a fan of phpld but I am certainly a fan of vegabonds work and welcome him anytime to come and work on phpLynx, perhaps working with a stronger script with more powerful features might test his talents even further and that's what all good designers aim for. (I can say that with some knowledge for my Daughter graduated as a web designer.

All in all though a good interview, keep them coming.

Yes agree, he is well known by his nickname i.e. Vegabond, but indeed nice read.

Futuristic Artists has been taking services of Shabu Anower (Vegabond) and i must say he is one of the best coders for phpLD templates, and as one of they key factors for the popularity of phpLD templates by Futuristic Artists. Not for phpLD templates only, he did exceptionaly good work with SS (site-sift) template too
