Default Supplemental Results

Hi,

What are actually this Supplemental Results? I heard that Google considers those pages as duplicates.
Is this true? What do you guys think about it?

If you use the search site:yourdomain all of the page listing with supplemental results after the url are supplemntal. Basically this means that page will only show in search results if there are no non-supplemental results that relate to the search term. This happens because of duplicate contnet and low authority status. By improving both of these factors you will avoid supplemental hell.

Supplemental results usually only show up in the search index after the normal results. They are a way for Google to extend their search database while also preventing questionable pages from getting massive exposure.

The question I have got is whether back links from a page in the supplemental index still work? My understanding is that pages in the supplemental index get spidered but not as often a pages which are not. I have not seen any adverse results on my rankings from the encroaching grey and whilst the axe might still be falling I assume that back links from directories with pages in the supplemental index work just as well as any other link.

I agree.

You can also do this:

1.If you have a phpLD3x you can create a sitemap
2. submit those deep pages in a directory that accepts deep categories. Ex:http://www.mydirectory/internet/ Bidding directories are a good example to submit them to, they will most likely accept deep categories or deep pages.

3. Make a blog and from time to time post a link to those pages, write an article about them.

Some supplemental pages are basically pages that either no longer exist or it is considered as duplicate.. Supplemental pages comes and go and they should always be monitored. If you have a lot of them, simply point a link to it and the SE will crawl them and usually will re-indexed them again.

I had battled with supplemental pages for months, then I think I got it all figured it out, the results are always beneficial. I get them out in no time with the basic 3 steps provided above and the tips from other members posted on this threads will surely pull those supplemental pages out of it and re-indexed them in no time.

Does one really have to worry. If SE ranking is not an issue and the back links work just the same, why stress?
