Matt Cutts and Google's paid link policy

I know many who visit the other forums will have discussed the merits of Google expert Matt Cutt's and his view on paid linking within directories. I also noted people within the directory threads at some forums saying that they are getting around this paid linking by saying, oh I dont charge for links but for reviews and are then dull enough to add winks to their post.

How long do you think it will be before even 'reviews' will be viewed as questionable?

Personally MGS....I have read the Mat Cutts comments as wellas all the fear mongering and doom and gloom everyone seems to be so worried about. My take is this...

While I do value PR for certain things....I absolutely DO NOT let PR dictate what sites I visit, frequesnt or anything else for that matter. And, I absolutely will not let Google dictate how I run any of my sites. If Google wants to punish my site by taking their glorified PR..so be it...Piss on Google. Even though I used it 99.5% of the time fr my own searches...there is always Yahoo. I like Yahoo but have just not forced myself to use it like I should. If I have to..I will boycott Google completely.

Just like those whom think they are the King of Directory Scripts and can manipulate others to their liking and way of thinking....I will treat them and Google the same. THere is always alternatives. When the masses realize this and switch..then the "Kings" will come knocking on our doors to return.

Couldn't agree more Tom, I searched Google for the meaning of life but never found it so I guess they ain't quite mastered thier algo's yet.

I cant see why Google would achieve by killing the directory industry or the back links webmasters get by submitting their sites to these directores. Free directories dont make much sense either. Directories need a value like any other site and I dont think Google is going to do anything more than pop the PR bubble which has got out of hand
