When did the whole directory surge happened? It seem there is directory everywhere for everything. Thanks to phpDL.

i see in the OP that Topseodir.com was mentioned.

This site was sold by me and before people go on about people selling sinking ships i thought i would reply with a few things.

Topseodir.com is far from a sinking ship just see the google results it still ranks number 1 for its domain name topseodir

its also top ten for seo web directory

so why the low price and the sale?
The low price because i dont believe in over inflated prices that you see many directories sell for i believe in a fair price i even took a loss on it as i spent over $4000 on the website. I sold because i had new ideas for a web directory and felt the best way to do it was to let some one else take over topseodir.com and that means that i can concentrate on my new project The Blurb Directory

I will be putting a lot of time and effort into my new directory and if you take a look you will notice a couple of things straight away NO sitewide links and NO adverts. Even the detail pages are dedicated to the websites listed with the only link without a nofollow tag is the owners link.

hobsdv...please go back and read the original post...you will see that Topseodir was mentioned only as one of the dirs recently for sale ...AND.... the price it sold for was a reasonable price.

The point of the thread was more along the lines of all these folks asking 5-6 figures for sites.

Lots of other directories there for sale to with lower $$$ and $$$$ price tages but most look to be junk link farms.

I see that TopSeoDir.com recently sold for around $1500. I think that was probably a reasonable offer/bid. However the others listed above are way off base IMO

Seems to me there kinda scared and want to squeeze everything they can from their directory one way or the other.

Guys tom, hobsdv i have already mentioned that i am not panicked with all this!
Am in need of money for investing into my college internet project related to dental..
And if i was panicked i would have left the whole directory world. And this is not going to happen. I still have 5 paid directories and am maintaining them very well. It is just noble directory that can cash out some nice amount for my investment.
And my directory isn't banned in google, which would have made me run away, am still ranking well in serps, but people who would understand this would surely be quiet! Others, sorry i won't care with what you are talking.

IMO sites are usually only worth what they make in revenue for the "last 6 months". So whatever that site is thats selling @ 250k should be making a minumum 43k per month.. if it is thats great, just make sure before purchasing the owner shows you proof of all sales made for the "last 6 months" regardless of what it may have been making 1 or 2 years ago.

On the otherhand.. unless your doing something shady you guys shouldn't have anything to worry about so stop panic'ing and trying to unload! Try reloading instead
