if you offer a FREE template, then it should be free, a footer link is worth money and so the template is no longer free !

There are two types of people in this world, those who are grateful for what they recieve and plain greedy bastards who want everything for nothing. Yes a template is free if you don't pay for it, even if there is a link requirement you ain't paying for it are you? Jeez, what would be next, people expecting a free script, free template, free hosting and then someone to do the running of the frikkin directory for them??

What is important is you read carefully, and understand what is expected of you. If it is you belief that requiring a link is unfair, and the template designer is requiring link, then that template is not for you.

Some people think everything is unfair unless it benefits them entirely and without condition. I'm not a lover of free templates, they create duplicate content regardless but even so I still think that the link condition has to be honoured just like the attribute links of any script.

you see that's why I posted that ... let's discuss FREE versus footer link without getting aggressive and resolve to insults etc.

it's obvious that some of you guys are angry and frustrated, but that doesn't mean you're right !

I think that offering a FREE template, but demanding a footer link is a ripp-off, it's scam ... it's not free, call it a footer-template, call it whatever you want, but don't call it FREE !

it's the kettle blaming the pot ....

so, I think you're mainly upset because your little scam didn't work, that's all !

maybe I should add this ... I paid for my phpLD script, because I don't want to put the footer links, no problem, it's a great script, so now you know I'm not a greedy b@stard, I'm just giving you my opinion !

if you put your template in a list that says for free, then it should be for free ... and as a footerlink is worth money, it should be called a free template

sure, you've put a lot of time and effort in it and then you see people using it without giving you a link for it, but then again, maybe you're the one being greedy ...

why did you make that 'free' template? well, because getting a ton of footer links from it, is worth much more then the time you've put into it, unless of course it wasn't a great template after all, or maybe, because there are too many of those out there already etc.

point being is that you think it's a smart move to make those template as long of course people are stupid enough to leave that link there, in that case, they got ripped of, not the other way around !

Rubbish, and I don't care if you think its insulting. People saying that a free template isn't free just because you have to keep the attribute link is the insult. An insult to our intelligence. Did you have to pay for it with CASH? you know, that funny stuff that makes the world go round! You buy a Friggin Ford car, you get a friggin Ford label on it don't you? Or are you one of those who walks because they don't think they should have a badge on the car.

The templates for all intent and purpose (and lets get this straight, I think they are a waste of time and cause more problems than the worth of it as so many use the same ones) an attribute link is a 'condition' so I guess if you really wanted to be pedantic you could call them 'conditionally free' but most others would be grateful and just say free, its only the REAL LAMERS who are parasites on society that would want EVERYTHING for NOTHING.
