Default What directory script do you prefer?

Hey D-O,

Just out of curiousity, what directory script do you prefer, name a few features of your preferred directory script. Please, also motivate your answer, name the features you like the most etc.

Lets start then?

I'm currently having a directory under construction, and I've decided to go with the phpLynx script, simply because it offers such a nice support over at the support forums, powerful features (free upgrades), they recently added deep link mod to their script (free upgrade).

Cheap price for such a great script, now some of you probably don't know much about php Lynx, but here's some quick info, it offers the best features, free upgrades, free support, both paid and free version available.

By the way, the paid php Lynx version I am running on, can be found at my directory E-Sweden, it's a swedish directory, still under construction, recently translated it, like the search? You're able to search by city, place and/or service, trust me it's the most SE friendly script out there, if you're curious please visit phpLynx - features.

I especially like the search in the paid version of phpLynx, the ability to search by name, place and/or service, and also a deep link mod, which costs 100$ for php LD, is free of charge in the Lynx script.

What script do you prefer, lets compare features, everyone is allowed to put their opinion here, please also remember to motivate your answer.

I am using phpld 2.1.2 because it is free and so easy to use.Is allows you to quick review the links, smart web interface, PageRank tool, thumbnail display, easy to install/upgrade plus they have great support forums

May I ask if you've given the free version of php Lynx a shot? From what I've heard it's a very good script, with loads of features in. If you haven't already, I would truly suggest trying it, you won't regret it

upper, glad you've found a script that fits your needs. Just so you are aware...there are lots of "free" scripts out there and some of them have all the items you named above and some have even more...for FREE. And, some, but not all do have free forums, and free support as well.

You should check around and look at some of the other scripts before you get too far along on your site. You might find something you ike better....and you might not. It's all up to what fits your fancy.

Regardless of which script you choose, good luck with it.

I have been using phpld for over a year now and it worked very well for me and what I am hoping to achieve. But it looks like phplynx is a very interesting alternative to phpld.

I have to disagree with you hobsdv, phpld does not have more features then the free ones,

Simple comparison,

does it have refer, contact, report, rate listing?
does it have a contact form?
does it automatically delete listings who payment fail?
does it allow importing of categories and links from within the admin?
does it have default email templates already installed?
does it have more then 1 payment gateway?
does it have a bad word feature?
does it allow you suggest a category whilst submitting a listing?
does it allow you to have more then just name, title, description, url whilst submitting a listing?
does it allow you to enter additional information whilst reviewing a link so the information automatically gets enetered into the email which is sent to the client on approval, rejection from within the directory?

I have not used the latest version of phpld but i would say that without mods which have been created by supporters of phpld you would answer no to most if not all the above questions.

phplynx does have all these features which work out of the box and are part of the free script.

this is why I use phplynx on my directory.

Thanks
Gary

It seems like phplynx has everything covered what phpld is lacking.
