I bought the Indexu script last night and will do a full review of the script from basic installation, admin control and backend power to customization and templating ease.

If you have experience with this script I would interested in hearing your views both good and bad.

I actually own either two or three sites running IndexU. I love it. Great templates, very customizable from a template and admin area. Templates are editable from within the admin area which I really like. Lots of options and flexibility with custom fields etc.

I am definitely a fan of IndexU. The single instance when I did need support...it was provided very quickly. Never had any problems with any of the sites I have running IndexU. One of them has some very modifications to the DB due to it's size...over 2.3Mil links in it. But it purs right along w/o a hiccup.

Great to hear TC, I was actually sold on the admin control as most front end stuff can be manipulated one way or the other. You have a site with 2.3Mil links , awesome!

I agree. I hope you used NiceCoder's DP coupon to get a good discount. It brings the price down to a reasonable and competitive price. The ONLY thing that I have found that I don't like...is if you change the IP or move servers (with a new ip)...you get locked out of the admin area until you change it on his site. Not a big deal and good for him with his anti-piracy mechanism! It's just you have to remember to do it. I am a bit senile sometimes....getiing old....comes with the package ya know.

Yes..2.3mil and some change...it's a custom DB. I have never marketed the site in any way. Thus it suffers from PR etc. That's OK. I had good intentions when I had the site built...but moved on to other projects and never got back to this particular one. It does get crawled heavily and an occasional new link and review gets posted.

Yes I used the DP coupon code, brought the price down nicely. Can't blame Nicecoder for his protection mechanism and to a degree is similar to the VBseo code you need to get green. Ok, well it's probably nothing like it but I think coders do need to protect their investments.

So do you think that phpLynx were wrong to code their script for protection billly? I see them get the crap kicked out of them on DP and other forums for doing just that when all they are doing is protecting thier interests.

btw, I do like that indexu and might have a crack at it one day, thanks for the nod on that one.

I don't blame phpLynx at all, I know a few coders who protect their code ideas ferociously. Lynx getting the crap kicked out of them for protection is only a few blowing off steam as they can't leverage the script for their own financial gains.

Probably right there Billy, that's the mentallity of some people and it does make you think are they jealous, lazy or just plain greedy, ones who complain need to get a grip.
