Default > $40 per link for PR0 linkpage, what's the secret ?

Hi All,

I found many directories charge more than $40 for a regular listing and the link page even has PR0 .

Do you think they really can sell it at this price? If so, what's the secret for them to make people pay ?

Yahoo charges $199 a year for a submission, and several of its directory pages have a grayed PR bar. However people still submit to Yahoo because of its reputation.

Other directories may have other attractions: traffic, articles relevant to the submitter's subject, etc.

If you don't see the point in submitting to a PR0 directory and paying $40, there might be none.

People are submitting to Yahoo because it is giving real traffic to target, grey bar or green bar mean nothing but to people who think it does. Example being sports supplements and bodybuilding products incl Maximuscle - Monster Supplements.com PR2
The Athlete's Nutrition Warehouse - Strength, Endurance and Fitness Supplements PR3
Body for the Ages Store Price List PR2

Which shop would you be buying off? one with higher PR, one with better design and feedback? one with cheapest price? PR is being without point.
