Ya i too feel the same but looks like i am happy being the exception
And anyways i am into my new project of free directory, far from these payment things
Not everyone can pay such a huge fees for submissions. Even I can't afford it currently. So people will look to other directories as well. And well alive and aviva nowdays have too many featured links..it seems they do not want restrictions on number of featured links. Doesn't look good either.
I agree on both points, who would afford to pay such large sums for such a small directory. Sure if and when it gets huge like Yahoo it may be worth the investement but until then they need to realize that only PR hunters are going to realistically look at paying this level.
I agree with you navjotjsingh, there are no apparent restrictions on featured links but I suspect this was done when they were at a far lower price. There is little incentive to pay that much money when the feature part is taken out of the equation as being something like 10th out of 20 links isn't what I could call featured.

From what I heard, Alive & Aviva realize that they couldn't earn enough if they don't charge as per year. The one-time, perm pricing will not be profitable for them in the long run.
So I was wondering, any of you directory owners have the same worry, especially if you are charging a one-time fee?
